Hualien Ocean Park was opened in 1990 as a consequence of Taiwan’s economic policy to move assets eastwards. With an investment of 1.87 billion US$ and unique design concepts, this project brought together local craftwork and foreign techniques. A theme park of this scale and size is a true phenomenon, and it is now possible to enjoy quality parks without leaving the borders.

Hualien Ocean Park took eleven years to plan and was built under the supervision of sixty-one professional planning teams and integration of over three hundred theme park developers’ designs, becoming the first theme park of international quality.
